Drivers faced long delays on the M6 as lanes were closed following a crash involving a lorry.
Three out of four lanes were shut on the northbound carriageway between junction seven, for Great Barr and junction eight, for the M5 after the collision.
National Highways posted on X at about 12:15 BST on Monday that there were about four miles of congestion and delays of about an hour. It advised motorists to use the M42 or M5 instead.
Just after 14:30, the organisation said the obstruction had been removed and congestion was clearing.
