A suspected arson attack on a 5G mast is being linked to other similar incidents in Surrey, Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) has said.
On 21 November, Surrey Police and Surrey Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports of a suspected arson involving a 5G mast on Bittams Lane in Ottershaw.
The fire was extinguished and there were no reported injuries.
A 39-year-old man from Ottershaw arrested on suspicion of arson and possession of an offensive weapon has subsequently been detained under the Mental Health Act, CTPSE said.
A spokesperson for CTPSE said information came to light during initial inquiries which led to it taking over the investigation.
CTPSE detectives are also investigating a number of incidents which may be linked in the Ottershaw and Chertsey areas, working with Surrey Police.
North Surrey Divisional Commander Ch Supt Aimee Ramm said: "Over the past month, we've seen a number of suspected arson attacks in the Ottershaw area which has understandably caused concern in our local community.
"Counter Terrorism Policing South East is now leading this investigation and we will continue working closely with the team to facilitate local enquiries."
