Family pay tribute to Totnes car crash victim

The family of a father of three who died after a single-car accident near Totnes have paid tribute to him.

Tommy McNally, 31, was a passenger in a black Seat Leon which crashed at Halwell Cross on the A3122 on 26 April.

His family said Mr McNally was a "proud father" as well as a "keen darts player" who "enjoyed the outdoors, especially the beach and being near the sea".

In a statement they said: "Tommy will be missed by his entire family and friends in Torbay and his native Wolverhampton."

The family said Mr McNally moved to Torbay for a "fresh start where he could escape the inner city life and embrace the tranquillity South Devon brings".

He worked for a local company building new homes and was in the process of getting a dumper licence.

They thanked Mr McNally's friends as well as "Derriford’s Intensive Care Unit Pencarrow ward for their caring support and the police for their compassion and guidance".

A second passenger also suffered serious injuries during the crash.

A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has been released on police bail while inquiries continue.
