Two men were taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash which closed a road in both directions.
Sussex Police confirmed emergency services were called to the crash on the A21, which involved two cars, shortly after 05:00 BST on Tuesday.
The road was closed temporarily in both directions for vehicle recovery between Northbridge Street roundabout and the A265 at Hurst Green, with a diversion in place.
The force said the road reopened at about 08:00.
Sussex Police said: "Two men, the drivers of each car, were taken to hospital with serious, but not life threatening or life changing, injuries."
On X, formerly Twitter, National Highways South East thanked road users for their patience while emergency services dealt with the incident.
