Last chance to have say on parking permit scheme

More areas where resident parking permits will be needed are being looked at to create more spaces

People living in Wokingham and Twyford are being urged to put forward their views on proposed changes to expand the areas where resident parking permits are needed.
Wokingham Borough Council is looking to create bigger zones – defined not by street but by area - to create more parking spaces for residents and evenly manage the demand for parking.
The authority said the changes being put forward aimed to address "rising on-street parking issues" to make parking easier for residents.
A map showing the existing and proposed new parking permit zones can be seen online and a consultation on the proposed changes, external closes on Sunday.
Under the proposals up to two parking permits would be offered to residents without off-street parking at their properties.
Those with one off-street parking space would be eligible for one parking permit and residents with two or more off-street parking spaces would not be eligible for any parking permits.
Visitor parking permits could also be brought in under the proposals.
Businesses would not be eligible to apply for permits.
A first parking permit would cost £55. A second permit, if eligible, would be £105.
Resident permits are currently £40 a year.
The authority said there were no boundary changes proposed for the current Remenham, Earley and Emmbrook parking permit zones.
