A number of homes are still waiting to have their gas supplies reconnected after being cut off for more than four days.

About 300 properties lost their supplies in Winnersh, Berkshire on Tuesday afternoon after a fault was found.

On Thursday SGN engineers started visiting properties affected on 14 streets to reconnect supplies.

In an update at 18:00 BST on Friday, the gas firm said it was taking "longer than expected" to restore some properties on Reading Road due to their pipework.

SGN said it would liaise with affected residents directly to explain what additional work was required.

"We will have a specialist team on site over the weekend to ensure there are no further delays to the restoration of your gas," they added.

Some other properties had still not been reconnected because the gas firm had been "unable to gain access".

SGN had initially hoped gas would be restored to all homes "later on Friday".
