Planning approval has been given to transform two derelict homes in Cleethorpes into modern aparthotels.

North East Lincolnshire Council’s planning committee approved plans by Robertson Properties Ltd, run by mother and son Natalie and James D’Souza, for two six-bed aparthotels at side-by-side homes in Isaac’s Hill.

Some neighbours had objected to the proposals, mostly concerning parking spaces.

The applicants said they were “ecstatic” to be granted planning permission.

Robertson Properties bought four adjacent properties in Isaac’s Hill late last year.

The homes have been derelict for some time and, last summer, a cannabis farm was discovered there by Humberside Police.

The planning approval concerns two of the homes.

Permission may be sought in future for the others to become aparthotels too, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

A small parking area was initially proposed but the plans were revised to include a drop-off and pick-up zone outside only.

“We are both ecstatic and relieved with the outcome and are looking forward to restoring the properties into modern aparthotels,” said Natalie and James D’Souza.

“Work will be commencing soon and we hope to have the first unit open and operating in the coming months."
