A man has been seriously injured after the car in which he was travelling crashed while being pursued by police in Birmingham.

The Nissan Micra crashed with another vehicle on Clevedon Road at the junction with Lincoln Street, in Balsall Heath, just before 12:50 BST on Thursday.

The hurt man, who has been taken to hospital, has been arrested alongside a second man detained at the scene.

A cordon remains in place and West Midlands Police has urged drivers to avoid the scene.

In the moments leading up to the crash, the Micra failed to stop for officers, the force said.

Officers continue to search for a third person believed to have been in the car.
