New chairman appointed for Jersey Sport

A new chairman has been appointed to lead the Jersey Sport board of directors.
The charity confirmed Andrew Whelan would manage its "overall performance, reporting and governance" and had been chosen unanimously due to his experience in the finance sector.
Jersey Sport, which is supported by the government, aims to make sport and physical activity accessible to all islanders.
Mr Whelan said he was "delighted" to take on the voluntary role and had represented Jersey in basketball and rugby.
He said: "Having played sport within and for the island over the past four decades it is wonderful to be able to contribute to the continued development and growth of island sport."
