Landmark dancing venue to reopen under new owners

A former nightclub in Nottingham which closed suddenly in February is set to reopen under new ownership.
The venue, most recently known as Pryzm, will be refurbished and reopened under the name "The Palais", new owners DHP Family said.
Based in Lower Parliament Street, the dancehall first opened in 1925 under the name "Palais de Danse" and is due to be back in use by the middle of September.
Previous owners Rekom UK said in February they had been "unable to reach an agreement" with the building's landlord as they confirmed the closure of Pryzm.
Nottingham-based DHP Family, which also runs Splendour Festival in the grounds of Wollaton Hall, said plans are already under way to rejuvenate the hall.
These include a new stage, PA and other restoration works.
A "diverse array of events" will be provided at the venue once it is reopened, the owners added.
The Palais manager Sam Dye said: “As a local business deeply rooted in Nottingham’s music scene, we feel it’s only right to recognise the heritage of the venue and revive Nottingham’s original dancehall.
"So many generations of families have danced at this iconic venue, so we’re delighted to be bringing it back into use once again.”
The dance hall was considered to be one of the finest of its kind outside London, the DHP Family said.
It hosted dancing in the evening and daily afternoon tea dances.
The venue has operated under numerous names during its near 100-year history, including Oceana, Palais and Ritzy.
