A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was stabbed.
Gary Belfield, 40, was pronounced dead at a property in Elliott Drive, Felling, Gateshead, on Saturday, just after 21:00 BST.
A man in his 20s was also found seriously injured at the address and remains in hospital, Northumbria Police said.
Six others, including a 15-year-old girl, have also been arrested as part of the investigation.
The teenage girl was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, along with a 22-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man.
Two women, aged 21 and 51, and a 35-year-old man, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Det Ch Insp Louise Jenkins, of Northumbria Police, said those involved were believed to be known to each other, and there was no wider risk to the public.
“We have zero tolerance for violence, and I want to assure our communities we will do all we can to get answers for Gary’s family.”
The force said it had carried out inquiries at several properties across the Felling area of Gateshead and the Walker area of Newcastle.
"Officers will remain at the scene and across the wider area as part of the ongoing investigation, and we encourage anyone who has information to speak to them or report to us directly,” she added.
"Our thoughts are with Gary’s family and loved ones following an incredibly difficult 48 hours, and we will continue to offer any support they need."
