A new courtroom has opened in Shropshire to "help reduce the outstanding caseload" in Wolverhampton.

The facility in Telford began hearing bail cases from Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday.

In May, more than 67,000 cases were waiting to be dealt with in Crown courts - a backlog that began before the pandemic.

The opening of the courtroom in Telford Annex follows the closure of Wolverhampton's Nightingale Court in April.
