Fire crews have been tackling a fire in a former Sainsbury's after a blaze started in a caravan and spread to the old supermarket building.

West Midlands Fire Service sent four engines and a hydraulic platform to the former store in Foleshill, Coventry, just after 16:35 BST.

A spokeswoman said a caravan had caught fire and the blaze had spread to the empty Sainsbury's but it was not known what had caused the blaze in Austin Drive.

Videos , externalposted on social media appeared to show dense clouds of thick black smoke billowing from the fire.
