At least four suspicious devices have been found at the scene where a man believed to be wielding a chainsaw and wearing a gas mask was shot by officers in Kent, police have said.
The man was shot on Monday evening at a property in Ashford Road, Hollingbourne, after officers arrived to arrest a man in his mid-30s on suspicion of assault.
After the shooting, bomb squad officers were recalled to the scene on Wednesday evening after items were found which needed to be safely disposed of, Kent Police said.
The Ashford Road (A20) had reopened, but on Thursday officers said it had been closed again for an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team to make the area safe.
Kent Police previously said the incident was not related to terrorism, and the man who was shot had suffered life-changing injuries.
A force spokesperson said searches of a property and the surrounding area in Hollingbourne were set to continue over the coming days.
Ch Supt Neil Loudon said: "At this current time there is nothing to suggest there is a wider threat to the Hollingbourne community."
Kent Police said it did not know how long the road would be closed for and there could be temporary disruption on the M20.
Mr Loudon added: "This is a complex investigation and it is imperative that we make sure the local area is safe.
"We will do all we can to ensure any future disruption is kept to a minimum while also allowing for officers to carry out their important enquiries."
