A mature student says the university clearing process gave her a route back into education after decades away.
Carol Goode, 61, is now in her second year studying law and criminology at the University of Northampton, after applying through clearing.
Clearing is the system that matches university applicants who haven't had an offer with institutions that still have unfilled places.
Ms Goode said: "I had come out of education a long time ago... I've always been interested in law and [university] was the best option. For me, [clearing] is an opportunity to say you're never too old to go back into education."

In 2024, the University of Northampton took more than 1,000 calls to its clearing line on results day
This year, a record 226,500 18-year-olds have secured their first-choice university place, according to UCAS, while thousands more are expected to go through clearing over the coming weeks.
Last year, the University of Northampton took more than 1,000 calls to its clearing line on results day alone - with 1,002 offers made.
Ms Goode added: "Before I rang in [for clearing] I was really nervous but once I got through, they were so helpful and it was an easy process.
"They actually encouraged me to do it because I did voice I was concerned about my age. I just thought, I had nothing to lose and go for it.
"For those considering whether to go for university, I would say go for it. There's nothing worse than thinking, 'what if'.
"Don't let anybody put you off, you will love it."
The university's clearing phone line is open until October.
