A Grade II listed pub building that has been vacant since 2013 can be converted into a home after councillors gave an application the go-ahead.

The Four Horseshoes in Checkendon, Oxfordshire, will be used for the house and a new detached garage and a one-and-a-half storey house will be built alongside it.

South Oxfordshire District Council approved the plan for Main Street and giving listed building consent to the project at a meeting on 13 August.

Its planning officers said the plan to restore the building, which was first listed in 1992 and parts of which date back to the 15th Century, was a reason to grant planning permission.
