Men jailed for sexually abusing same teenage girl

Two men who sexually abused the same teenage girl have been jailed.
The victim was aged 15 when Imran Tai repeatedly had sex with her in 2018, Braford Crown Court heard.
His friend Jogee Mohammed also sexually abused the youngster after taking her in his car to the Showcase cinema complex car park at Birstall.
Tai, 45, of Dark Lane, Batley was jailed for nine years while Mohammed, 52, of Stockwell Drive, Batley was jailed for four years after both were convicted of a range of sexual offences.
The pair were convicted of their separate offending by a jury in May.
Tai was found guilty of eight offences relating to his sexual activity with the girl while Mohammed was convicted of two allegations of sexual activity with a child relating to one day.
In a victim impact statement read to the court by the complainant, she described being “torn to pieces” by what had happened to her.
She indicated it would have been much less painful for her if they had admitted their guilt rather than making “relive this nightmare”.
'Irreversible damage'
The court heard that Tai, who is now at HMP Leeds, had health issues which had resulted in him losing most of his vision and being dependant on a wheelchair.
His barrister Timothy Jacobs said Tai had to rely on others in the prison system to take him from place to place and he also needed assistance with washing, dressing and feeding.
Mohammed’s barrister Ian Cook said the defendant, who is also in custody at HMP Leeds, had been a well respected man in his community, but much of that respect had now gone following his conviction.
Judge Colin Burn told the pair that the victim had suffered “serious and irreversible” psychological damage and said Tai had exploited a vulnerable complainant.
