A man has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing at annual bonfire and fireworks display.

Abubakar Saleem, 21, of Victoria Avenue, Wellington in Telford, was also charged with the possession of an offensive weapon after a 20-year-old man was hurt at Donnington Bonfire in Telford.

The attack took place at about 20:30 GMT on 8 November, shortly after the bonfire was lit, West Mercia Police said. The victim was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital, but has since been discharged.

Mr Saleem is expected to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates Court later.
