Woman, 81, fatally struck by car in village

An 81-year-old woman has died in hospital after being hit by a car in a Nottinghamshire village.

Police said the pedestrian was struck at the junction of London Road and Hawton Lane in Balderton at about 16:50 GMT on Monday.

She was taken to hospital but died a short time later, officers said.

They added the driver was spoken to at the scene but no arrests have been made.

Anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam footage has been asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police.

Det Con Emma Temple said: "This was a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the woman's family at an incredibly difficult time."
