The Liberal Democrats have won a Worcestershire County Council by-election following the resignation of a Reform councillor.

Sam Ammar took the Bromsgrove South seat with a majority of 505, five months after the election of Reform's Gaynor Jean-Louis who stood down in September citing ill health.

Ms Ammar, a former chair of the Bromsgrove Labour party, had 1,416 votes, finishing ahead of Reform's Philip William Hingley with 911 and Local Conservatives' Matt Dormer with 309.

Reform UK is still the largest party on the council, while the Lib Dems now have seven councillors in total, with three in Bromsgrove.

Labour's Laura Maeve Rollins had 92 votes.

Ms Jean-Louis had not attended any council meeting, submitting apologies several times.
