Section of road closes for underpass construction

Ballacutchel Road will be closed for almost two months for the construction of the underpass

A section of a road in the south of the Isle of Man has closed for almost two months amid the construction of an underpass connecting two parts of a golf course.
Part of Ballacutchel Road, near the Comis Hotel in Mount Murray, will remain shut until 18:00 BST on 24 November while the work is finished.
A diversion will be in place and emergency access maintained.
The Comis Hotel and Golf Resort's plans for the privately-funded tunnel, which will have a width and height of 2.5m (8.2ft) installed under the road, were approved by a committee in August.
The planning application said the project would provide a "direct, safe connection between the two halves of the course" and would be a "vital" upgrade for what is set to be the primary golf venue during the 2029 Island Games.
The tunnel is designed to be big enough for pedestrians, golf buggies and course machinery and the banks will be restored following construction.
