Extra police patrols are being carried out across a county in a bid to curb drink driving.
Essex Police said 41 drivers were arrested for drink and drug driving between 06:00 GMT on Friday 17 January - and 06:00 on Monday 20 January.
The force called it "unacceptable" and said tackling the issue was a "priority".
A spokesperson said: "You may think you are safe to drive, but you're not. Instead, ahead of your evening out this weekend, take a moment to plan how you're getting home."
"Take a taxi, take a bus, get a lift: anything except drink or drug driving," police said.
