Two teenagers have been arrested for terror-related offences in Greenock, Inverclyde.
Police said a boy, 16, was arrested shortly after 09:00 at the Inverclyde Islamic Centre on Laird Street in connection with offences under the Terrorism Act.
The BBC understands that police are investigating whether these alleged offences were connected to right-wing extremism.
Assistant Chief Constable Andy Freeburn said there was nothing to suggest there was any further risk to the public.
A second 16-year-old boy was then arrested in the afternoon.
ACC Freebairn said: "During the course of the investigation, a second 16-year-old male youth was arrested this afternoon in the Greenock area in connection with a separate terrorism offence.
"He has been released without charge pending further inquiries."
He urged anyone with information or concerns to speak to officers. Inquiries are continuing.
