The consultation is asking for views on the future of Leatherhead town centre

Residents in the villages Fetcham, Ashtead and Bookham have been invited to share their thoughts on a proposed regeneration project in Surrey.

Feedback is being sought on a new development of "multi-generational and accessible" housing, commercial facilities, shops and green spaces at the Swan Centre and Bull Hill in Leatherhead.

Developer Kier Property and Mole Valley District Council will hold drop-in events in the three villages to get local views.

Council leader Stephen Cooksey said: "We would like to hear from people in the surrounding areas to understand if our proposals appeal to them and whether they might visit Leatherhead more often or even consider moving here."

The local authority said the proposal will provide multi-use buildings and retail facilities to better serve the local community and increase footfall.

Leigh Thomas, group managing director of Kier Property, said the plans would "revitalise" Leatherhead's town centre.

Public consultation events were held in the town in July.

"Events so far have given us much food for thought," Mr Thomas said.

Drop-in events have been arranged on 19 August at St Mary's Church, in Fetcham, on 5 September at the Peace Memorial Hall, in Ashtead, and on 11 September at the Old Barn Hall, in Great Bookham.

The public consultation, external runs until 16 September.
