Review after park death finds no police misconduct

A woman was found unresponsive in Cripplegate Park and later died

A police standards inquiry following the death of a woman with whom officers had previous contact has found there was no misconduct.
Emergency teams were called to Cripplegate Park, Worcester, at about 07:00 BST on Thursday after the woman, 34, was found unresponsive. Despite paramedics' efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene, West Mercia Police said.
The force referred the case to its Professional Standards Department because of its earlier contact with her.
"The review concluded that no professional standards had been breached, no misconduct occurred, and it does not meet the criteria to be referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct," a force spokeswoman said.
She said it was standard procedure for an incident to be reviewed by the professional standards department when a death had occurred following police contact.
"The previous incident had been dealt with appropriately by officers," she added.
West Mercia Police said the interaction had occurred the day before the woman's death.
She is yet to be named.
The force said on Friday "there was found to be no-third party involvement and her death was not suspicious", adding there was, therefore, no criminal investigation, and a file had been passed to a coroner.
