A suspect has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with robbery after an 87-year-old woman had her handbag stolen.

Kurt Taylor, 41, of Edgecumbe Street, Hull, appeared at the city's magistrates' court on Thursday.

He did not enter a plea and was told to appear at Hull Crown Court on 3 March.

Humberside Police said the woman was walking along Nidderdale, near the junction with Airedale, at about 13:30 GMT on 21 January when she fell and had her handbag stolen by a person on a bike.
