A lorry spilt its cargo of paint across the M42 motorway when it was involved in a crash.

The collision happened at about 14:00 BST on the southbound carriageway between Solihull and Shirley, National Highways (NH) confirmed.

The spillage initially saw three of four lanes closed with drivers facing delays of over an hour. It is not currently clear whether any other vehicles were involved.

An NH spokesperson confirmed at 19:30 that two lanes remained closed as the clean up continued, with delays of around 20 minutes expected.
