A cat has died after being shot for a second time with what is believed to be an air rifle pellet.

Police said the feline was first attacked on 8 October between 12:00 and 16:00 BST in the Eastfield Park area of Northampton.

A week later it is believed it was shot again, near Rydal Mount, or near the playground area of the park.

Northamptonshire Police, that has only just released the information, appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
