The redevelopment of three Surrey fire stations has been delayed and is now due to start in late summer, the county’s fire service has said.

Construction work to improve and update facilities at Chobham, Lingfield, and Reigate fire stations had originally been scheduled for spring.

But Surrey Fire & Rescue said start dates had been adjusted “to accommodate the extensive planning involved”.

Chief fire officer Dan Quinn said: “Setting definitive timelines is challenging” and “further changes might happen”.

He explained: “The adjusted timelines are a result of careful planning and considerations necessary for such significant building work.

“The planning and execution of these projects involve rigorous planning applications, site-specific requirements and surveys, and the critical task of securing reliable contractors for the build work.

“Setting definitive timelines is challenging due to these processes, and further changes to timescales might happen."
