Police have issued a warning after medicine used to euthanise animals was stolen from a vet's van.

The substances were taken from the parked vehicle outside an address in Frampton on Severn, Gloucestershire, between 23:00 BST on 31 July and 05:00 on 1 August, police said.

Officers are concerned that the drugs can cause serious illness or even death if consumed by humans.

Anybody with information or CCTV footage is asked to contact police.

Several other vehicles were also broken into in the area that night, police added.

Supt Andy Kilmurray, of Gloucestershire Police, said: "We are deeply concerned that these drugs, which will almost certainly prove fatal if taken, are now in circulation.

"We are warning people who may have come across them not to take them but would urge them to come forward to us."
