Residents have been warned to keep doors and windows closed as firefighters battle a large blaze at a recycling centre.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said multiple crews from across Wiltshire are currently at the scene at Compton Bassett, near Calne, after being called out just after 18:00 BST.

The service said that approximately 10,000 sq metres of material was on fire.

"It's like we will be on scene throughout the night," it added in a statement.

"Crews are in attendance from Calne, two from Chippenham, and others from Devizes, Marlborough and Corsham along with a water carrier from Royal Wootton Bassett and a support unit from Salisbury.

"No casualties have been reported."
