Thwaites Brow Road in Keighley is described as "part of local history"

Heavy vehicles could be banned from a historic cobbled street when a new traffic order is introduced.

Work to repair Thwaites Brow Road in Keighley, known locally as The Twines, began earlier this year.

It was paid for with £190,000 of the Keighley Towns Fund, and will see old "setts" repaired and new ones installed.

Bradford Council has now announced plans to prevent heavy vehicles from travelling over a stretch of the steep road.

This would prevent vehicles that weigh over 7.5 tonnes from travelling along a 50m (164ft) stretch from the road’s junction with Thwaites Bridge to Bank Top Way, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.

The order is due to come into force on Monday.
