A driver transporting a static caravan on the A1 near Grantham was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

A flatbed HGV was pulled over by police for breaking an abnormal loads embargo on Tuesday evening.

The 40-year-old man was released under investigation pending the outcome of tests, Lincolnshire Police said. He was also given a fixed penalty notice for driving over his allowed hours.

A vehicle escorting the transporter was found to be untaxed.

Officers stopped the transporter at about 05:35 BST. Abnormal loads are prohibited from travelling on the A1 between 04:00 and 06:00.
