A motorcyclist caught riding at 130mph has been warned by a police officer not to let him be the one who has to tell his family "you're not coming home".

Andrew Burns-Mackie, 32, of Palmer Avenue, Lower Arncott, was stopped by an officer on an unmarked police motorbike while riding south on the A34, close to Bicester, on 8 June.

Burns-Mackie was filmed reaching speeds of up to 130mph as he weaved between cars along the dual carriageway.

He was sentenced to 24 weeks' jail, suspended for 18 months, after earlier admitting dangerous driving.

Burns-Mackie was also suspended from driving for 18 months and ordered to retake an extended test and pay £239 in costs.

In footage from a police body worn camera, the officer who stopped him was heard said his speed was "far too much" and that he struggled to catch up with him.

After sentencing at Oxford Magistrates' Court, Sgt James Mathews said: "The riding demonstrated by Mr Burns-Mackie is a clear case of the dangerous behaviours that not only put himself in incredible danger, but also those of other road users.

"We welcome the sentence passed down to him by the court and hope that it will act as a deterrent to others as well as demonstrating the power and effectiveness of the unmarked motorcycles when used in a road safety setting."
