A man who was wanted after he escaped from hospital while under arrest has been detained, police said.

Daryl Taylor had been charged with seven sexual offences against children on Sunday and was later taken to Ipswich Hospital by police for treatment.

The 33-year-old was found in Rendlesham, Suffolk, at 19:00 BST and arrested alongside two other men alleged to have assisted him.

Supt Andy Martin said officers had shown "unwavering and relentless effort" to capture the fugitive.

He was detained with the help of the National Police Air Service and armed officers, having escaped from hospital at about 22:00 on Sunday.

It followed Crimestoppers offering a reward of up to £5,000 for information on his whereabouts.

Taylor, from Ipswich, and the other two arrested men were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

"It is right and proper that he now serves the term of his recall and be presented to the courts on the charges against him," Mr Martin added.
