A person was taken to hospital following a three-vehicle crash which resulted in the closure of a major road.

The A14 was completely shut near Bury St Edmunds, in Suffolk, after two cars and a van were involved in a collision on the eastbound carriageway at about 08:56 GMT on Thursday.

Three ambulances, two ambulance officer vehicles and a Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) vehicle went to the scene. The East Anglian Air Ambulance landed on the westbound carriageway.

Drivers endured delays of 20 minutes and two miles of congestion. Both carriageways had reopened by 13:00.
