A woman in her 70s was seriously injured when she was hit by a car in Nottingham, police have confirmed.
Officers were called to Linnell Street, St Ann's, at about 09:00 GMT on Tuesday, to reports a pedestrian had been injured.
Investigations meant the area, including the busy Carlton Street, was cordoned off for several hours.
Nottinghamshire Police said the driver of the car, a white Mercedes, stopped at the scene. The force has appealed for witnesses.
Det Con Emma Temple, of the force's serious collision investigation unit, said: "We believe there will be a number of witnesses who may have seen the vehicle involved, a white Mercedes, or the pedestrian who was injured in the moments before the incident.
"If you can help, and have not yet spoken to an officer, please get in touch without delay.
"Likewise, any drivers who were in the area around this time should please get in touch if they have any relevant dashcam footage which could assist."
