A man who raped a woman after holding her against her will has been jailed for 11 years.
Simon Turay, 47, was found guilty of rape, kidnap, and robbery at Northampton Crown Court in May.
Turay, of no fixed address, was told he would serve a further four years on licence when he was sentenced on 31 July.
Det Con Harriet Stevenson, from Northamptonshire Police, described his actions as "predatory, entitled and threatening".
"Simon Turay has a long background of violent offending against women, and the ordeal he subjected the rape survivor to was nothing short of horrific," she said.
"I'm really pleased he has received a significant prison sentence which reflects his dangerousness.
"The survivor's courage in reporting him to police has ensured he has been brought to justice, and I would like to thank her for her bravery and for placing her trust in us."
On 25 May 2024, a woman told police a man she knew had made her go with him to a cellar in Northampton where he undressed and raped her.
She also reported he had robbed cash from her in the April. Turay was arrested the following day.
Police also said he had breached a restraining order relating to a former partner, and breached the order again when he tried to phone the woman in October 2024 attempting to tell her what to say in court.
In relation to this he admitted perverting the course of justice.
Turay was given an indefinite restraining order preventing contact with the rape survivor and was banned from entering Northampton town centre.
