Multi-vehicle crash closed lanes on M1 motorway

All lanes on the M1 southbound in Hertfordshire have reopened after a multi-vehicle crash.

National Highways said, up to three lanes were closed between junction nine for Harpenden and junction eight for Hemel Hempstead, but has since fully reopened.

It said there were about 70 minutes of delays in the area and seven miles (11km) of congestion.

The organisation said it had cleared the carriageways and had recovered the vehicles.
