A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and false imprisonment at a property in Leominster.
A woman reported being attacked in South Street on Thursday and into the early hours of Friday.
West Mercia Police confirmed the 50-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of administering a poisonous or noxious substance with intent to injure.
He had been released on bail as inquiries continued, the force said.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have information or who was in the area on the morning of 4 September to come forward.
Det Insp Edward Jones said: "We would urge anyone who was in the area of South Street at around 09:00 BST - 10:00 on Thursday, and who has any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to get in touch."
Additional officers would remain in the area, he added.
