Three-day skate and surf event begins in Cornwall

A three-day event celebrating surf and skate culture has launched in Cornwall.

Organisers of the UK Surf and Skate Expo in Newquay said it is an opportunity for everyone to meet like-minded people and have a good time.

It will feature big names in the surfing and skateboarding industry as well as exhibitors, demonstrations, competitions and a series of talks and panels.

Speakers include British Olympian skateboarder Lola Tambling, world-renowned Big Wave surfer Andrew Cotton and Tony Alva from Dogtown and Z-Boys.

Organiser Chris Thomson said they were excited to put on the first UK Surf and Skate Expo.

He said: "This is an opportunity for everyone to meet like-minded people, and generally have a good time.

"Anyone attending gets to see brands they're fans of - we have 65 plus exhibitors here and more than 35 talks across the weekend.

"This includes legendary skateboarder Tony Alva, from Dogtown and Z Boys, who is giving a talk at 7pm this Saturday. We'd love to see you all here."
