Police are appealing for witnesses after reports an elderly man assaulted a young boy in a Cornish park earlier this month.

The incident happened in Goonhavern Park, on Bridge Road in Goonhavern, near Newquay, between 10:30 BST and 10:45 on Sunday 8 June.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the man held the boy, believed to be about eight years old, by the neck and swore at him. When he was asked what he was doing, the man said he was retraining the child, officers said.

The suspect and the victim left the scene together in a red vehicle, police said.
