Girl, 9, buys food for rescue by selling bracelets

A nine year-old girl who raised more than £300 selling handmade bracelets has spent the funds on food for an animal rescue.
Chloe, from Wem, sold the bracelets at her mother's gift shop for 50p and 75p over the summer holidays.
Her original target was £20, but she ended up with a total of £327 to spend on essentials for Grinshill Animal Rescue, near Shrewsbury.
"She’s just amazing, she deserves a medal," said Jenny Martinez, from the rescue.
When asked why she raised the money, Chloe simply replied: "Because I love dogs."
"There’s a dog in Wem, in the hairdressers, called Lenny and he’s from here [Grinshill], and Chloe loves Lenny," said her mum, Lisa.
"She said: 'I'm going to sell them,' [bracelets] and I said, 'Don't be silly.'"
"It just went from there, really, and we've just been amazed with how generous people have been.
The funds allowed the pair to buy piles of dog food, cat food, toys, and treats, selected from Grinshill's wish list.
The rescue has been taking in animals for more than 40 years, and is entirely self-funded, relying on donations.
"She’s brought everything that our dogs love," said Ms Martinez.
"The food is right, the gravy bones which they adore, it will be amazing for them, and we thank her so much.
"It means a lot less for us to pay out, so it’s fantastic."
One dog recently cost them £3,500 for vet bills, so donations like this make a difference, Ms Martinez said.
"We are small, we’re not like the big guns, so we don’t have the resources that they do."
