A man has pleaded guilty to causing injury by dangerous driving after a collision which resulted in two pedestrians being airlifted to hospital and damaged a town centre car park.
Joshua Coulton, 23, from Military Court in the town, admitted six offences, including two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, during a hearing at Northampton Magistrates' Court on Monday.
The case has been transferred to Northampton Crown Court for sentencing and Coulton has been remanded in custody until his next hearing on 2 December.
St John's car park in Northampton, which was hit by a black Seat Leon during the incident on Friday, remains closed while it is made safe.
Coulton also pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified and without insurance, aggravated vehicle taking and failing to stop.
The two pedestrians - a man and woman aged in their 20s - were struck by the car on Swan Street before it collided with the car park.
An assessment of the car park's structure took place on Friday.
West Northamptonshire Council said it was unlikely to reopen until Thursday at the earliest "while work continues to make necessary safety checks, and put up scaffolding so that the damage to the car park can be repaired."
The authority shared a list of alternative car parks on its website., external
