A 15-year-old boy has been charged with violent disorder following clashes between protesters and police in Bristol city centre on 3 August.

Police have also charged Benjamin Tavener, 35, of Charfield, South Gloucestershire, with the same offence.

He will appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court later while the teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear at court on Thursday.

Police have so far arrested 28 people in connection with the disorder, and charged 12 of them.

One person who was previously arrested has been released and will face no further action, while enquiries remain ongoing in relation to the others.

Avon and Somerset Police said their investigation into the disorder remained underway, and urged the public to help them identify people in pictures shared, external by the force online.
