A man has been arrested after a car crashed into a derelict pub in Stoke-on-Trent.

Police were called at 00:30 BST on Thursday morning to Harry Ramjams on Shelton Road, to reports a blue BMW had hit the building.

The road remained closed on Thursday afternoon, with diversions in place along Cemetery Road, they said.

A 24-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously, failing to stop after a road accident and being the driver of a vehicle involved in a road accident and failing to report that accident.

Staffordshire Police said the man remained in custody for questioning on Thursday afternoon.

They appealed for witnesses to contact them with dashcam footage or information relating to the incident.
