Plans for 250 new homes in Tavistock have been submitted to a council.
Exeter-based Tilia Homes put forward the plans to West Devon Borough Council for a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes on Plymouth Road.
The application seeks permission for 124 homes at the start of the development, with a separate proposal to build the remainder of the properties at a future date.
A new right-hand turn lane for access to the site, a public open space, a footway, a pedestrian crossing and bus stops are part of the plans.
Affordable housing
The proposal said of the 124 homes, 20 properties will be two-bedroom, 78 three-bedroom and 11 four-bedroom homes, in addition to two apartment blocks of one and two-bed properties.
The council requires 30% of the homes to be affordable housing together with contributions towards local transport and education.
People have until 13 June to have their say on the plans.
The site is next to the Little Orchard development of 44 houses and bungalows built by Baker Estates.
Permission has also been granted to Baker Estates for an extra care facility of up to 60 homes or commercial land.
