'Beautiful, quirky daughter' named as crash victim

The family of a woman who died in a crash in North Yorkshire have described her as "beautiful" and "quirky".

Elizabeth Cross, 38, from Easingwold, passed away following the collision on 11 June on the A19 near Birdforth.

The driver of the car which struck her Vauxhall Corsa, a woman in her 40s, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and released under investigation.

North Yorkshire Police shared a photograph and a statement from Ms Cross' family, which read: "Our beautiful, quirky daughter, Lizzie, taken from us far too soon."

Investigation remains ongoing

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this incredibly sad time.

"Our investigation remains ongoing as we work to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision."

The road was closed for several hours while the scene was examined and cleared.

Emergency services attended but Ms Cross was pronounced dead at the scene.
