Residents have about six weeks left to submit their views on whether a one-way system should be introduced to improve a town centre's traffic.

Other proposals for Silver Street and Market Street in Bradford-on-Avon include pavement widening.

Residents' have until September 16 to comment on the traffic survey, before the results will be debated at Bradford-on-Avon Town Council meeting next month.

Mayor councillor Jack Vittles said the "continued consultation" has been "incredibly useful for councillors" when deciding the new travel system.

The consultation was originally due to finish in May, but councillors decided to extend the survey to allow more people to comment.

Three different options have been suggested to improve safety, pollution levels and traffic volume:

Option A - creating a one-way system in Market Street and Silver Street.

Option B - installing road narrowing 'pinch points' , two in Market Street and one in Silver Street.

Option C - making Silver Street one-way combined with priority narrowing in Market Street.

The survey's first results showed about half of the people who responded (58%) believed that option C was unsuitable for the town.

More than 400 people said they wanted a traffic scheme more like the one-way system in place during the pandemic.
