A children's play centre has been given almost £160,000 of Levelling Up Funding (LUF).

Hull City Council awarded the grant to build the space-themed attraction on the disused former food court on the top-floor of the Prospect Shopping Centre.

The area will also include food and drink outlets and an education centre.

It is expected the development will create just short of 14 full-time jobs, the council said.

The company behind the Little Astronauts centre is to invest £150,000 in the project.

Developers Ben and Danielle Roman said it would provide state-of-the art interactive play and also "accommodate children with special educational needs".

Councillor Paul Drake-Davis, portfolio holder for regeneration at the city council, said: “This is an exciting project, one that will no doubt provide endless fun for families in Hull.

“There is nothing like this in the area, so for the council to be able to support bringing this to the city centre is fantastic and it is another great example of the potential which LUF helps to unlock.”
